Our story
Clubs for things
you actually
care about.
How it started
It started with a pizza place.
City Club Shirts is a two-person operation. We're best friends who became best friends in college, spent our twenties in the city, and eventually did the thing — moved to the suburbs, started families, got very into weekend routines. We still love good design. We still have opinions about graphic tees. And we got tired of paying $60 for one.
So sometime around 2022, we started making our own. The first designs were city club shirts — retro-inspired graphics for the neighborhoods, parks, and local rituals that felt like home. Late-night pizza joints with neon signs you could spot from a block away. Parks where the pigeons outnumber the rare warblers and that's somehow exactly the point.
It was a hobby. Something to do with our hands and a creative outlet that didn't require a client or a brief. We made things we liked and figured if other people liked them too, great.
"Started as a hobby. Still feels like one. Just a hobby we're taking seriously now."
Where we are now
A hobby that grew up.
At some point we stopped limiting ourselves to city clubs. The designs kept getting more playful, more specific, more fun — and we realized the concept didn't need a zip code. It just needed a feeling. The Friday Night Pizza Club. The Spaghett Recipe. Out of Office. Shirts for clubs you didn't know you needed to join.
Then one of our kids started asking for very specific shirts. Not the kind you find anywhere. So we started designing kids shirts together — which turned out to be some of the most fun we've had making anything. Snacks For Dinner. Hot Dog. Trick or Treat. Designs made with a kid's input hit different.
What started as a creative outlet has turned into something we're genuinely building. This year we're expanding the kids collection, retiring some of the older adult designs, and introducing new ones. The goal is the same as it's always been — just make things worth wearing. We're just more serious about it now.
The shirts themselves
